We’re cynical about email.
Like you, we get a ton of it (and send our own each week) and most do nothing to grab our attention.
Which is why a recent email we received is worthy of comment.
Sent to me by a former coaching client, Toney, the message endeavors to make advisors aware of a lesser known financial planning device – reverse mortgage planning and integrating housing wealth with the retirement plan.
Hi Rob-
Making some progress on educating on reverse mortgage planning and integrating housing wealth with the retirement plan.
Value add wholesalers could be talking about how to secure portfolio drain with a product they do not sell and can bring a true value added idea to the conversation. Always be a student of the game right?
Why This Email Stands Out
The temptation of the GIF image.
Though playing a video from an email message isn’t possible (unless you send the whole, large, video file or a link to the video), this use of this GIF suggests otherwise.
The large red play button invites me to click.
The “Play 1 minute video” promises that I don’t need to take too much time out of my day to view Toney’s message.
Why His Video Message Stands Out
Two words: It’s Personalized!
In a sea of inbox sameness, Toney stood out and became memorable.
