During the last week of June 2021 we received an email from a Divisional Manager that read:
“Suits don’t feel quite right, jeans too little, and a sport coat about right. The tie may be dead, but wondering if the sales reps out there are a little too casual these days, and what the expectations are.
Everyone loves zooming in their shorts, but I think it might be time to be back, if you have that elite mindset.”
He asked if we had any insights.
We did not then…but we do now!
The poll we ran at LinkedIn was open for seven days and completed on July 5, 2021.
We heard from a huge sampling of externals, internals, middle managers and senior leaders – in total we collected 1,128 poll responses!
The respondents represented all channels and all products.
Amongst the written comments, we heard:
Admittedly, the question (as submitted to us) had a decidedly male bias (sorry ladies).
It’s clear from these results that the formality of suit and tie, to see every advisor, every day may well be a thing of the past:
