“Where ego I go too.”
That message, in the form of a lapel button, was bestowed on me decades ago by a co-worker who found my bravado a little, how should I say, annoying!
Naturally, some of that bravado serves us well as wholesalers.
In fact, our ego acts a defense shield against the naysayers and the endless stream of ‘nos’ we get day after day.
Over time, hopefully we get better at separating blind ego from simply knowing what we know and what we don’t.
Best explained by the phrase coined long ago: The Circle of Competence.
The subject area(s) that match your skill or expertise.
After +15-years of service to our wholesaling community, I've now retired - and I’m committed to keeping all our resources available for future generations of wholesalers and their leaders – but only as long as it makes fiscal sense.

Staying within the circle allows you to profit (both literally and figuratively) from your considerable expertise.
Venturing out beyond the circle is asking for unforced errors in your practice.
