Your Territory On Autopilot

The external has a great team.

An internal partner who adds value to the region.

An administrative assistant that is equally proficient.

So confident is the external that she often leaves her team members to function unaided and, often, unchecked.

Which all worked well.

Until it didn’t.

Only in examining why her territory’s performance was trailing the firm’s expectations (after many years of outstanding success), did she cede to the notion that she had abdicated her responsibilities.

Responsibilities which include:

  • giving direction
  • providing feedback
  • setting the strategy
  • inspecting after expecting
It’s easy to set the territory to autopilot.

It’s damn difficult to drive the region back on course when you discover you’re many miles away from your intended destination.
