It was the early 1980’s at a No-Name Motel somewhere between Modesto and Fresno in the days before roll-on bags.
A few years back, I picked-up a rental car at the airport in Birmingham, AL.
It was well after dark, so nothing about the car seemed amiss.
For the last 25 years that we’ve been in distribution we’ve seen and heard some absolutely outrageous things happen in the field.
Every wholesaler has had this dilemma:
“Rick” is a great prospect.
He writes a terrific amount of overall business, writes business in your product type/asset class, was open and engaging during the first meeting, works at a focus firm, placed a lit. order with you and promised to get on board and write business.
And that is as good as you have been able to do with Rick.
He’s promised a bunch and he’s not written a thing.

You’re at the back end of a long day.
