Caffeine withdrawals.
Seems that an old friend was experiencing them after going through a nine day cleanse, which included four days of fasting.
Not one to undertake any regimen that involves removing Starbucks from my life, I starting thinking about ways to cleanse my practice – and how you can cleanse yours.
Specifically, what three things can you do today that will make you more productive, feel less overwhelmed, and maybe, just maybe, take back some time in your life?
1) Revisit every tone, vibration, and ring from every app and device you own. Make the often hard decision to simply turn off most of them.
Cleanse yourself of the noise and distraction.
2) Get the constant swirl of ideas out of your head and get them onto paper (app). Or as David Allen says, “Your head is for having ideas, not holding them”.
Cleanse yourself of the mental clutter.
3) Your overwhelming list of things to do isn’t ending, but you can manage how you feel about that list by focussing on the biggest/ugliest tasks first thing everyday and identifying the Big Three Things that will allow you to call the day a success.
Cleanse yourself of the ‘everything is urgent’ mentality.
