A few years ago we started a open forum for wholesalers to share stories that only fellow wholesalers could believe and/or relate to.
Here are some of the latest entries.

Once, at 5 pm on a Friday after a full day of appointments, I was excited to be able to get home and enjoy the weekend.
Then I looked at my car’s GPS and the drive time back showed…8 hours! What planning.
Another time I had a day trip to Chicago. I covered multiple states so I had rented a car a few days prior.
I parked it at the airport expecting to pick it up later that day and finish the week.
Well, it snowed in Chicago, return flight cancelled. Due to other meetings and ANOTHER snowstorm the next time I tried, it was 13 days until I could finally make it back to that airport in the middle of nowhere and pick up the car.
It was sitting in short term parking the whole time.
$1400 cost for rental and parking.

Rookie mistake more than anything else.
Advisor dinner meeting in Providence RI, parked my car in a covered parking garage.
Following dinner, I learned the hard way that the garage closed to entry/exit at 9pm (seriously????).
Had to take a cab to Providence airport to rent a car for the rest of the week for meetings on Long Island.
At the end of the week, had to drive all the way back to Providence airport, return rental, and cab it back to downtown garage to get my car back.
Insult to injury: explaining the massive parking fee on expenses was fun.
Would love to get that week of my life back.

Just to illustrate how times have changed, particularly with respect to compliance, one of our external wholesalers lost his drivers license due to a DUI charge.
Our company sent his internal out in the field to drive him around for the full 6 months until he got it back.
Can you imagine what would happen to that wholesaler if that happened now?
