Do you remember Dudley Do-Right?
A cartoon character from the 1960’s, he was the dim-witted, cheerful and conscientious Canadian Mountie that fell hopelessly for his love interest Nell.
In episode after episode Dudley was seen defending Nell from the evil Snidely Whiplash.
What’s this got to do with wholesaling you ask?
Everything.
Some years back we wrote to you about the advisor at the IMCA conference that spoke unkindly about wholesalers in general.
A wholesaler reader of the Sunday Night Email let me know that that ticked him off.
He suggested that we, as a community, should be more forceful in our defense of the honor of wholesaling and less willing to accept any ‘wholesaler bashing’.
He offered that he is always prepared to display all of the quality attributes of great wholesalers – if only the advisor would do him the courtesy of returning a phone call, answering an email or keeping an appointment.
And you know what, he’s right.
For the segment of advisors that insist on being Snidely Whiplash, and denigrating the craft that so many do so well, we should employ our best Dudley Do-Right and defend the honor of the craft.
